Fans who recall taking control of command posts in the past will soon be able to do it once more in the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. The first Star Wars Battlefront games definitely match that description.
Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, which was unveiled at the most recent Nintendo Direct, includes the first two games in one package and improves the gameplay with 4K textures and support for online multiplayer. Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a dream come true for long-time fans of the franchise who have been waiting years for a rerelease of these beloved games.
But this collection also acts as a reminder of all the things the Battlefront series was never able to accomplish and everything it may have been. Despite its historical significance, Battlefront seems destined to never see a third installment.
Since the first game in the series was launched in 2004, the Battlefront series has had two distinct but remarkably similar lives. The original Battlefront game from LucasArts and EA was something of a proof of concept, delivering a satisfying gameplay experience with plenty of potential for improvement.
When a sequel was eventually due, both Battlefront 2 games significantly and deeply improved upon its predecessor. However, both Battlefront generations were unable to finish a trilogy following those sequels. Regardless of the version, the odds have always been stacked against Battlefront 3, even if nearly ten years have passed.
With its massive battles, extensive roster of playable heroes, and diverse maps, Star Wars Battlefront 2 from 2005 was a major success for the franchise and one of the most immersive experiences to date. Not long after its debut, A Battlefront 3 was launched into development, but a vast list of problems arose during the project’s creation. The project was eventually cancelled in 2008 due to developer Free Radical Design’s inability to meet deadlines and the disruptive restructuring of LucasArts at the time.
The devastating part of this tale stems from gameplay footage of Battlefront 3 that was released, which displays the game’s ambitious ground-to-space elements. While it doesn’t necessarily reflect on the calibre of the final game, many fans find Battlefront 3’s unfulfilled potential to be just as menacing as Star Wars 1313’s. The gameplay demonstrates the potential and impossibilities for the Battlefront series.
Even if the debut of EA’s Battlefront 2 wasn’t the smoothest, the game is now a fantastic multiplayer experience that echoes the goals of the first Battlefront 2. Regretfully, EA has not indicated that it intends to release a modern Battlefront 3.
According to reports, EA rejected a threequel that developer DICE had offered to the publisher. It appears that fans’ expectations for Battlefront’s future have returned to zero once more.
Though many fans have been waiting for Battlefront 3, Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is an excellent method to preserve the legacy of the brand while no new games are in the works. However, because DLC characters like Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress are included, some players may find that the original Battlefront games feel brand-new after playing this collection. Though it’s a long way from a threequel, some fans of Battlefront could find that little refreshed nostalgia is enough.
Produced by Pandemic Studios, Star Wars Battlefront is a first-and-third-person shooter from 2004 that shares several gameplay elements with the Battlefield series. Large-scale fights are the main focus of the game, which also recreates various cinematic scenes.
